Mint Management Technologies: First South African Company Certified against ISO/IEC 27001 by PECB

Mint Management Technologies, a technology consultant and development company which provides innovative solutions based on world-class technology that targets business efficiency and accuracy, is the first South African company to obtain the ISO/IEC 27001 certification by PECB. Such standard ensures safety and security of organization’s information assets, by building an information security infrastructure against the risks of loss, damage or any other threat.

With the clock ticking on whether sensitive information will be lost to cybercriminals, there is an unavoidable need to shift focus on mechanisms that provide the necessary information protection. In today’s constantly changing world, information security has grabbed the attention of many companies that do realize that information security is no longer a novelty; instead, it is the core aspect of conducting business.

Initially, Mint's system was contained in Excel sheets, but integration was not a real option. When the RUBiQ product and service had been described to Clark, she recognized immediately that it was the way of the future for maintaining the ISO/IEC 27001 system.

Caridon, a South African company was assigned the responsibility of undertaking the auditing process of Mint Management Technologies for ISO certification by PECB.

Clark placed emphasis on the importance of having South African Companies adopt international standards because failure to do so presents an obstacle in their daily operations. Provided that more and more companies are not interested or hesitate to do business with a company that does not have a certain ISO standard in place that proves they are serious about their customer’s satisfaction.

Given the enhanced trust placed on the company’s operations after its ISO/IEC 27001 certification, Clark expressed the willingness to further continue working with Caridon and PECB. In addition, ISO compliance facilitates improved competitiveness. Consequently, these are the factors that contribute to the readiness of the company to be ISO/IEC 27001 certified for years to come.
